Patience rewarded MONTHS ago, I asked if anyone could add to my sketchy knowledge of Sutton's old Rose Vale soccer club.
Now, patience is rewarded. W. Brennan from Alfreton, Derbyshire was a dedicated fan from the age of seven until the side folded around 1932/33. The team, he says, began life as the Moss Rose, and, originally, Moss Nook.
He still recalls most players, including Charlie Wilcock, Mick Lilley, Tommy Parr, John, Joe and Jack (Pudding) Grice, Joe Bowden, Mark Robinson, Pickersgill (later Oldham Athletic) Jimmy Barton, and Danny Brown.
The Joe Grice above is not to be confused with Joe (Giddy) Grice, who, seasons later, played for Sutton Rangers, Haydock C&B and St Helens Town.
MORE from W.B. soon . . .
