SIX league games without a goal and Clarets fans are getting restless.

The tension at Turf Moor is tangible whenever Burnley are struggling - and the pressure on the players is mounting all the time.

Chris Waddle's plan is to help his team relax and hope that once the first goal comes, many more will follow. He's promised of a crate of champagne to the player who breaks the deadlock - even if it's an own goal by the other side.

The player-manager has also showed his ruthless streak by transfer-listing Vince Overson, Nigel Gleghorn, Ian Helliwell, Gerry Harrison and Marco Gentile to cut the Clarets' wage bill and make more signings possible.

Overson and Gleghorn say they were devastated, but the shock was even greater for Harrison and Gentile, who look to have a good few years ahead of them.

Waddle has also stepped up his search for a third striker to supplement Paul Barnes and Andy Cooke. The boss has expanded his horizons to Scandinavia for a forward to help supply some goals.

Burnley go to York on Saturday (September 13) in search of their first goal to end the 540-minute drought.

The Minstermen beat Burnley 1-0 at Bootham Crescent last season and, given the Clarets' form so far this term, a similar result looks distinctly possible.
