GARDENERS sold their wares to raise money for the Princess Diana Memorial Fund at this year's South Ribble Flower Show.

Organisers say there were fewer visitors than usual to the annual event at Bamber Bridge Leisure Centre because of services being held throughout the town in memory of the Princess of Wales.

And flowers were in short supply due to the huge outpouring of public grief at Diana's death.

But the show was still a blooming success with displays of plants, flowers, fruit and veg and crafts.

One highlight was a fuchsia which was so big, the gardener had trouble getting it through the door.

Garden planners were also on hand to give advice on design and layout.
