DUTCH import Marco Gentile could be a target for today's opponents York City.
York watched the Dutch defender in action in Wednesday's reserve team fixture against the Clarets and manager Alan Little is believed to be considering a move.
Gentile was one of six Burnley players transfer-listed by Chris Waddle last week as the player-manager bids to raise additional cash for at least one new signing - with his priority a striker.
Gentile has not featured in Waddle's plans this season, aside from a couple of appearances on the pre-season tour of Northern Ireland.
And if the right offer arrived, then Waddle would part company with Gentile.
Waddle observed: "I've got a lot of midfielders and a lot of defenders at the club, what I've not got is strikers in abundance.
"I need another experienced striker to challenge Andy Cooke and Paul Barnes.
"At the moment, though, my hands are tied.
"I've no money to spend until I move people out. That is the reality.
"It is difficult because there is no fresh money for players.
"I am on the look out for bargains, but they are few and far between.
"I will have to try and wheel and deal with the players I have placed on the transfer list."
Meanwhile, Vince Overson was due to make his comeback in today's Lancashire League B team fixture against Blackburn Rovers at Gawthorpe.
At least two clubs are tracking Overson's path back to fitness after nine months on the sidelines with Achilles and calf injuries.
Overson said: "I've just had my first week's training for many months and I'm getting stronger every day.
"It was a shock going on the transfer list but I know I still have a lot to offer as a footballer.
"It is just great to be back and I just want to get on with playing again."
Meanwhile, Nigel Gleghorn's move to Northampton Town has been put on hold.
The the midfielder suffered a minor hamstring strain while playing for Northampton Reserves against Leyton Orient on Wednesday.
