IT was a great privilege for my colleagues and I to make provision in the Cathedral for the thousands of local people who came to honour the memory of Diana, Princess of Wales.
There were some very moving scenes as we welcomed folk to say their prayers, lay their flowers, light their candles and write heart-felt lines in the Books of Condolence. It was an experience that none of us will ever forget.
I would like readers to know that Blackburn's MP Jack Straw, will be taking the Books of Condolence and messages left with the flowers to Kensington Palace in the very near future.
Also, that the Cathedral will be sending £1,000 from the Memorial Service collection and other donations to the National Memorial Fund.
THE VERY REV DAVID FRAYNE, Provost, Blackburn Cathedral.
