THE exterior of an empty house was damaged after being hit by a reversing car in Bury yesterday (Thurs Sept 11).
Police believe the driver of the Volkswagen Polo, 85-year-old Mr Robert Cobb, may have suffered a blackout or stroke.
He was reversing his car out the driveway of his home at Euxton Close when it travelled across the road, into the garden of another house before striking the side of the property which is up for sale.
The impact caused around three square metres of brickwork to cave in.
Mr Cobb was taken to Bury General Hospital where he is being detained for tests.
A Bury fire crew attended the scene and cleared away some petrol which had spilled from the car.
Water from a house radiator, exposed in the crash, was also dealt with by the firemen.
It is understood building inspectors have been called out to examine the property.
