SEVEN-year-old Olivia Goodman was the envy of her school chums this week.
For she had the honour of cutting the ribbon to mark the opening of a new and exciting development at Bury Grammar School (Girls).
It involves a purpose-built Junior School for girls aged seven to eleven. There are eight classrooms, a splendid beamed music room/hall and a library and computer centre.
A total of 180 girls started school on Wednesday (Sept 10). Miss Valerie Woodward, head of the junior school, spoke of the attractive environment and wonderful facilities.
"We are all very excited," she said. "The first day ended with pop and cakes for everyone and each girl received a glass paperweight to commemorate the event."
Headmistress, Miss Janet Lawley said: "I am delighted to see the Junior School established in warm, welcoming and spacious surroundings.
"The building gives us an environment which is second to none."
