BURNLEY couple Richard and Mary Broadley today celebrated 65 years of marriage with a family party.
With them was daughter Hazel, who had flown from Canada, and her sisters Joyce and Barbara, who both live in Lancashire.
The couple's son Richard junior lives in New Zealand and was unable to make the trip.
The couple met while Richard senior was an apprentice plumber at a business to which Mary delivered the milk.
After four years of courtship they married at St Leonard's Church, Padiham.
Richard had a successful plumber's business in Colne Road, Burnley, until serving with the Royal Artillery during the war.
Afterwards he worked as an instructor with the Ministry of Labour before working for Burnley Corporation and the Water Board.
Mary worked for the family milk delivery business and later had jobs at Lambert Howarth and GUS.
Now they enjoy playing scrabble and looking after the garden at their home in Ullswater Road, Pike Hill, Burnley.
They also visit Hazel in Canada for a month each year and have visited Richard in New Zealand.
