A HEADTEACHER has spoken of his school's year of success.
Stuart Holt, of Clitheroe Royal Grammar, said the year had started with disappointment when the school was refused permission to sell off land to raise cash towards a new sports hall.
However, it had ended with a series of outstanding achievements by pupils.
Mr Holt told the annual presentation evening that the school had been delighted with its Ofsted inspection which praised staff and pupils.
It came shortly before it won a Schools Curriculum Award for 1997, which was presented to pupils by Princess Anne in London, he said.
Mr Holt also told parents and governors of the hundreds of pounds raised by pupils for charities such as Derian House, Comic Relief and Help the Aged.
