I WAS absolutely appalled by Mrs Gladys Robinson's remark (Letters, September 10) that no-one was at fault but Diana.
She mentioned how Diana's private life led to her downfall. How else was she supposed to lead her life - sitting at home feeling sorry for herself, becoming a nun or something like that? Or, better still, swanning around in a limousine waving at the masses with an air of arrogance as the other royals do?
Let Mrs Robinson remember it wasn't Diana who decided to opt out of her marriage with Charles. It was Charles who never gave the marriage a chance from the beginning, preferring to cavort with Mrs Parker Bowles.
If it wasn't for Charles infidelity, Diana wouldn't have found herself in Paris on that fateful night.
Although Diana died aged only 36, she did more for the downtrodden and needy than the rest of the Royal Family ever did.
