A DEPLETED St Helens side defeated Birkenhead Park on Saturday.
Put in to bat, the Wirral side struggled to 81 all out after being 46-9 in the face of fine bowling by Steve Jordan (4-9), Mark Wells and Bobby Kenny (2-15). Stumper and skipper Neil Woods took his season's tally of victims to 24.
Then Phil Roughley (24 not out) and Darren Tyms (34 not out) wrapped the game up in 29 overs after the loss of two early wickets.
The seconds, meanwhile, lost heavily at Birkenhead Park.
This Saturday St Helens meet former skipper Geoff Cropper at Bolton and finish the league season on Sunday at home to Newton-le-Willows.
