TEENAGERS playing on a building site are thought to be responsible for a deliberate fire which caused £50,000 worth of damage.
The blaze destroyed the roof and some walls of a Tay Homes detached house on Merrytrees Lane, Cottam on Sunday (September 14) at around 1.50pm.
Nearby residents say they saw youths running away from the scene.
The house, which was almost completed, will have to be demolished and re-built from scratch.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with information. Detective Sergeant Michael Tommony, of Lea CID, said: "The Ancient Oak pub is nearby and it was a fine afternoon so there would have been people and traffic about."
If you can help, contact Lea CID on 01772 203203 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
