Clock Face Miners 42 Swinton Bulldogs 22 CLOCK Face maintained their winning start to the season, with this comfortable victory.
Winger Gary Devine opened the scoring when he raced onto a well placed kick from Paul Cooney.
A 50-metre break by Jimmy Crook led to the next try when prop Steve Hayes forced his way over.
Then Crooks raced 80 metres to score under the posts giving Paul Cooney his first conversion.
It was not all one way as the Bulldogs mounted some good attacks but poor ball control and firm tackling by the Clock defence kept them from scoring.
Clocks last try of the half came when Ian Maudsley made a great 40-metre weaving run through the defence before putting the ball down under the posts. Cooney converting.
After the break Clock were stunned when the Bulldogs scored a converted try.
And it took a while before Clock responded and it was left to stand-off Carl Thompson to start the ball rolling again when he beat off two defenders to score wide out. From a scrum 20 metres out full-back David Fairclough linked up and cut inside to increase Clock's lead with Cooney converting. The Bulldogs hit back with a converted try only for Clock to respond instantly with two more converted tries through Paul Cooney and Green. Clock relaxed and were immediately hit by two tries in as many minutes.
