Leigh East 32 - Warriors U8s 1 THE first game of the season for the under eights saw a slow start in the first half but when the players lost their nerves, the training of many weeks came into practice.
Sam Rukin and brother Tom scored tries with Abbey Meadows and Sam kicking the goals. Abbey deserved her player of the match award. There was superb tackling by top tackler William Adams.
Leigh East 48 - Warriors U9s 18: Warriors were entertained by Leigh East showed a lacklustre first half in tackling. However, some determined attacking play and confident tackling in the second half saw the Warriors pull back to a final score.
Man of the match was Lee Connick and best tackler was Tom Perry. The tries wee by the borrowed Leigh East player (2) Leigh Connick and Tom Perry who also converted. To join this team contact Jack Hankin on 01772 452146.
Leigh East 48 - Warriors U11s 14: A quiet start allowed the opponents to build a large lead. However, with hard work and determination, the team fought back well and put in a strong second-half performance.
The team was led by man of the match Neil Byrom who scored all three tries, and Wayne Standring added a conversion. Wayne was also best tackler. There was an encouraging performance by Andrew Miller on his debut.
Leigh East 35 - Warriors U12s 5: As the game went on, the under 12s performance gained improvement. The only try was by the strong drive of captain James Franklin, with a chip by Wes Loram and a chase and touchdown by Stuart Brown.
A drop goal by Wes Loram showed another good team performance. Man of the match was Andrew Bennett and runner-up on his first game for Warriors was Tom Farrimond.
Wigan Newtown Knights 36 - Warriors U14s 6: A powerful Warriors performance was spoiled by numerous instances of careless play which handed the possession over to the opposition in dangerous positions.
The Leyland forwards were led by an outstanding display from Mel Davis who was man of the match, while full back Gary Watts was top tackler. The Warriors' try was scored by Paul Brown and converted by Greg Baron.
