GREG DIMERY marched to a super century at the weekend.
The Leigh opener was in majestic form with both bat and ball as the team swept to an emphatic nine-wicket win at Marchwiel.
First he put the brakes on the home batsmen, his spin attack claiming 3-81 through 27 overs unchanged, then he cut loose with the bat.
At the finish he was unbeaten on 104 including 16 overs.
Marchwiel had started well with both openers reaching their half-century, the first wicket (caught and bowled Dimery) going down at 94.
That's when Dimery and Chris Melia stalled the home innings, Melia's spin through 18 overs earning him 1-48.
Then young Ben Cottrell stepped in to claim the final two wickets - conceding just one run in his 10 balls.
Leigh had 45 overs to overtake Marchwiel's score of 177-7.
And suddenly there was little doubt. Dimery and Steve Bailey dominated the bowling, putting on a brisk 66 before Bailey was bowled for 26.
Skipper Dave Dove kept the score ticking along, knocking 32 as Leigh cantered in at 178-1.
But the day belonged to Dimery. Incredibly, he went from 50 to his ton in just 29 balls, firing to all parts of the ground.
Leigh will be hoping for more of the same on this final weekend of the season as they look to claim a Lancashire Cup spot.
On Saturday they visit St Helens Recs. On Sunday it's all wrapped up with Southport the visitors at Beech Walk.
