MERSEYSIDE Police have denied there are any current plans to close Prescot police station as part of a major police review.
Chief Inspector Paul Donnelly has written to both Prescot and Whiston town councils to allay fears that the station may be completely shut down.
He said: "I must stress that there are no plans to close Prescot police station in the near future, but in the long term, we should perhaps look towards relocation to more cost-efficient premises in the developing town centre, where the presence of a police station would suppress crime and be more accessible to the trading/shopping community."
