A GANG of youths terrorised three anglers and made off with a bike and fishing tackle with a combined value of about £250.
The incident took place at about 9.30pm on Friday, September 12 near to the Hotties section of the St Helens Canal at the rear of the Safeway supermarket.
The gang - about 10 youths aged between 15 and 20 - approached the anglers, one aged 20 and two teenagers, and asked for a go of one of the boy's bikes. Then the 20-year-old had his arm forced up his back, while several members of the gang surrounded one of the teenagers and threw him into the water.
They then grabbed the bike and fishing tackle and ran off.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Kevin McGrory at St Helens police station on 0151 777 6066.
