CHRIS Waddle has appealed to Turf Moor's board of directors for extra transfer cash in a bid to lift Burnley away from the bottom of the Second Division table.
Burnley's disastrous start to the campaign continued at Brentford after a cruel injury-time goal robbed the struggling Clarets of a deserved point.
The defeat at Griffin Park means Burnley have lost all five of their Division Two fixtures away from Turf Moor and still have to record their first League win under the new management team.
"I'm trying to turn this club around but my hands are tied financially," said Waddle.
"Until I move people on, it is unlikely that I will be able to bring anyone else in.
"Obviously I would like to do things quicker but that is not possible at present."
Waddle saw Burnley reduced to 10 men after defender Lee Howey was sent-off in the 75th minute for a professional foul on Marcus Bent.
Waddle said: "We have got to believe that we can turn the situation to our benefit.
"It was very disappointing to lose in the manner that we did. We are having some awful luck at the moment and we are not playing badly. "To be honest you run out of things to say.
"Both goals we conceded were bitterly disappointing, especially the second one.
"Even though we were down to 10 men, we should have had enough bodies on the pitch to cope.
"I don't really think that we came to terms with the game defensively and we defended naively.
"Attacking-wise I think we played some really good stuff, but defended very poorly. We shot ourselves in the foot.
"We had difficulty handling Brentord's long balls and we didn't deal with Robert Taylor's flick-ons properly. I don't think we won a header in the air all game at the back.
"The bottom line is that we have to start learning very quickly. If you don't then you end up in a rut.
"At the minute we are looking at two to three wins to get us into a respectable position in the division. But we will just keep plugging away." Waddle saw midfielder Mark Ford score his first Burnley goal and the player-manager added: "Mark is looking better every game and I was pleased with his contribution."
Gerry Harrison was named in Waddle's side after making a remarkable recovery from a hamstring strain.
Waddle added: "Gerry was a lot better by Friday and it was clear he could play a part.
"Initially we had ruled him out for three weeks to a month, so to have him back so soon was a major bonus."
Meanwhile, striker Andy Cooke is expected to visit a specialist this week.
Cooke missed the weekend action with a troublesome back injury and Waddle confirmed: "We are planning to have Andy examined by a specialist to get this frustrating problem sorted out.
"At the moment it is a pain for the player and a pain for us."
Steve Blatherwick is recovering after weekend surgery on his injured knee. The big defender is likely to be sidelined for at least a fortnight.
