CHRIS Sutton, the Premiership's top scorer, can justifiably wonder what he has to do to get into the England squad - but it seems he mustn't do his wondering in public!
Glenn Hoddle once again ignored the Ewood striker yesterday when he named his England squad for Italy, and there was an underlying message to Sutton not to criticise through the Press.
Sutton made his feelings plain after missing out on the previous England squad, with the likes of Stan Collymore chosen ahead of him again. But Hoddle said, with scarcely-disguised annoyance: "If Chris wants to talk to me I'm at the end of the phone.
"There are certain things we're looking for, certain moulds of players, and there's a possibility that Chris could be drafted in in certain people get injured.
"He's done nothing wrong and has had an excellent start to the season. But other players are pretty close to getting in as well."
