SERVICES carried on as usual at an historic church despite an attack by vandals which left broken stained glass strewn across the floor of a side chapel.
Hooligans threw stones damaging 18 panes of glass at Colne Parish Church.
The damage was discovered by the vicar, the Rev Dr Peter Mott, when he arrived to prepare for services.
The attack, which caused £1,000 worth of damage according to the police, was at the front of the church which faces on to the main street.
Dr Mott said windows at the back of the church, which this year celebrates its 875th anniversary, were protected by plastic covers.
