THE report in the Citizen on September 18 that Poulton residents' committee wants local people to write to council planners objecting to proposals for 34 houses on the former Poulton market site. Your readers might be interested that, at its September meeting, Morecambe Labour Party branch, voted to join the protest against the 34 houses. Party members are concerned that the development will bring new people into the old Poulton area, adding to existing deprivation and strains on local schools, doctors, hospitals and increasing already very bad road safety problems, and the shortage of children's play amenities.
