FOUR nurses at Lancaster's Moor Hospital have been suspended following allegations of assault against two elderly patients.
The staff were removed from duty following allegations that one nurse assaulted two patients suffering from Alzheimers disease.
The other three have been suspended while an inquiry is held to discover if they knew about the incidents and failed to report them.
The nurse at the centre of the allegations has since resigned and the police have been informed and are looking into the matter.
Supply nurses have taken over on the Dolphinholme Ward, where the alleged assault took place, and the internal investigation is expected to be completed next week.
