Leigh Royal Oak 32 Clock Face Miners 20 CLOCK'S good start to the season came to an abrupt end on Saturday.
Clock started badly as some poor tackling allowed the homesters to run in two unconverted tries before they opened their account.
Glyn Walsh set up Gary Devine with a neat pass to send the wingman in at the corner.
Clock were unlucky to lose prop Mark Sherwood after 30 minutes with a head injury, he was replaced by Damien Regan.
It wasn't until the last eight minutes of the half before more points were scored, the first going to Royal Oak with a converted try, then a neat inside pass to David Fairclough saw the full-back dart through the defence to score, Paul Cooney converting.
Ten minutes into the second period Clock took the lead, when Tony Cooper was stopped just short of the line, but managed to get the ball away to hooker John Greenall who forced his way over.
Cooney converted.
But five minutes later Royal Oak regained the lead with a try.
David Fairclough restored Clocks lead with his second try in the corner.
Once again the lead changed hands as the homesters wingman went in at the corner and with just five minutes left, Royal Oak put the game out of Clocks reach with two more tries.
