XANADU doubters' objections will be weighed against greater community benefits.
Leigh Cllr Brian Jarvis says careful consideration will be given to the wider impact of plans for a futuristic snow dome leisure wonderworld near Pennington Flash.
Cllr Jarvis this week said:"I represent 15,000 people in Hope Carr ward and assure them their objections against Xanadu will be taken into consideration.
"But when the time comes to vote the decision I will have to take will be taken on balance after looking at a wider picture taking in greater community benefits.
"A lot of objectors for years said 'we've got nothing since we went into Wigan', now they have the chance of something they don't want it.
Cllr Jarvis queried whether Marshall Street college site objectors would like to see the £150m, 2,500 job project switched to Wigan.
He said:"No objections I have heard have been against the principle of the Xanadu complex, they just don't like where it is situated near their homes.
"But let me assure them Wigan Council didn't choose the land for their proposed development, the applicants did because of its situation.
"People have been suggesting the old Bickershaw Colliery site, but land there is designated for a massive housing estate. Other land there has just been ceded to the local authority but it is contaminated."
