A 16-YEAR-OLD Preston boy was killed when he was hit by a freight train travelling at 50 mph.
The boy from Fulwood was pronounced dead at the track near Boys Lane, Fulwood on Monday afternoon. Police say he had scars to both wrists 'possibly caused by self mutilation'.
There are no suspicious circumstances.
Police have not revealed the boy's name following a request from his family.
The train was travelling from Sandbach to Sellafield.
The body was found with a personal stereo and dance tapes but no identification. Emergency services took the body to Royal Preston Hospital's mortuary and the parents identified their son on Tuesday.
