THE name Monica Vasconcelos may not trip off the tongue but the music produced by this exiled Brazilian is a fluent blend of seductive songs from her homeland.
Now living in London, Monica and her collection of musicians have produced the debut album Nois (Grapevine/Polygram) - and is a perfect example of popular Brazilian music.
Featuring original and classic Samba beats, Nois (which means Us) is totally addictive and anyone who is not moved by the passion, power and presence of Monica must be tone deaf.
And if you happen to be in or around the capital on November 8, Monica will be performing a free concert in the Barbican Art Centre.
