A BLACKBURN car showroom has reported booming business in its first weekend of adding Volkswagen Beetle cars to its collection.

Hundreds of visitors flocked to Livesey Service Station to look at the specially imported Beetles, and salesmen handed out hundreds of leaflets.

One salesman spoke to so many people he lost his voice!

Now, one week on, the owners are just waiting to sell their first classic to the public.

A spokesman said: "We have had phenomenal interest in what has happened so far.

"We have in stock three Beetles - two convertibles and one hard top - which have been imported from Mexico, the only place where the cars are made these days.

"All we have to do now is sell one, so we just need to wait for people to get back to us."

An R-registration Beetle will set you back £7,500 on the road. For all the added extras, expect to shell out about £12,000.

A spokesman for the firm, which has owned the garage on Livesey Branch Road for eight years, said: "We thought we'd try something new and this is ideal.

"We now have the dealership for the north and our showroom is packed."

The cars are imported from Mexico to Beetle UK, the main dealers in the south. Ross had to pay up for the three cars upfront, and will order replacements as they start to sell.
