REGARDING the strange metal contraptions on Town Hall Street and Northgate in Blackburn combined with the Witton Park fencing controversy.
Perhaps these metal monsters have come from Blackburn Golf Club, whose course seems to be surrounded by two-metre high security fencing.
All over the course, old stiles have disappeared to be replaced by steel spikes and barbed wire.
So, come on, people and those parents of the hundreds of children who have walked backwards and forwards to all the schools in the area over so many years, get out your vaulting poles and protest!
M HOLME, West Leigh Road, Blackburn.
FOOTNOTE: A spokesman for the club said: "The fencing has been put up to keep people off the golf course because we have had problems with vandalism and theft.
"We have had wire mesh fencing that has been physically cut by people so they can come on to the course.
"Also, people come on and walk their dogs and it is dangerous because they could be hit by a ball."
