WORKING for Burnley Council can be good for your health!
An occupational health care programme was introduced last year, with help from Burnley Health Care NHS Trust, to encourage employees to adopt a healthier lifestyle by raising awareness of health issues.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Burnley Coun Enid Tate and Mrs Cynthia Sanderson and chief executive Roger Ellis opened a health topic exhibition at Burnley Maintenance Services.
Employees are being offered a comprehensive fitness test including checking blood pressure, heart rate, body fat, lung function and height to weight ratio.
Advice on smoking, cholesterol an healthy eating is available le, as well as training sessions on managing stress, relaxing, counselling and cancer.
Personnel committee chairman Coun Pat Bennett said: "This campaign is a continuation of the council's positive commitment to a fitter and healthier workforce and we hope this approach will continue to benefit both the council as an employer and employees themselves."
