KIM Rostron has ended her season on the highest possible note by being called up to the Great Britain and Ireland Curtis Cup squad.
Curtis Cup honours are the highest that can be conferred on a lady amateur golfer. The biennial match against the USA, the female equivalent of the Walker Cup, takes place in Minnesota next year.
Great Britain and Ireland's final team of eight will be selected from the current squad of 12.
And the 22-year-old from Clitheroe is delighted to be in the running for the first of what could be many appearances in the prestigious event.
"This is the highlight of my year, indeed my career so far," said Kim, English champion, Scottish strokeplay champion and winner of the St Rule on the Old Course, St Andrews this year.
"I was thrilled when I opened the letter confirming my call-up.
"It was something I was expecting after the season I had but the moment I knew for sure I was just over the moon."
Rostron has played her last competitive round of the year and has just started a job with Have Fun Ltd in Padiham.
The first training weekend for the Curtis Cup hopefuls is in late November.
Rostron also has a training weekend with the England team at the end of this month at Cardon Park in Cheshire.
