A WOMAN assistant was bitten by a tarantula at a newly-opened pet store in Bury this week.
The large, hairy tropical spider is one of a number of exotic creatures housed at the new Petsmart store in Peel Way.
The employee, who works for the company in the South of England, had been drafted into Bury to help with the store opening. A spokeswoman for Petsmart said the employee did not require hospital treatment.
