PLANNERS will pop round for a peek before deciding whether to call time on a Leigh pub.
Councillors voted to visit the Brooklands Hotel at Pennington before deciding whether 55 homes can be built there.
Charlton Homes/Limewood Developments want to develop land at Pennington Road, including the site of the pub which locals have fought to save.
Planning committee members were told despite the loss of the pub and boiling green there were no grounds for refusing the application.
Planners noted housing density was high but acceptable and included public open space well above Council requirements.
Cllr Brian Jarvis said:"Part of this site has long been designated for housing, but since no council houses have been built for years the authority decided to dispose of it.
"The pub site is unallocated in the UDP and the piece of land behind the pub would be set aside as an open space amenity."
