STAFF at a social club were threatened at gunpoint by an armed robber who then escaped with the night's takings.
The robbery took place at about 12.45am on Monday, September 22 as staff at St Austin's Social Club in Heath Street, Thatto Heath, were locking up.
Suddenly, a masked man who appeared to be carrying a handgun, appeared and ordered them all back inside the club. Once inside, he threatened them with the gun and demanded they hand over any cash.
He eventually escaped with the evening's takings. Fortunately, no-one was injured.
The man was described as white, about 5ft 6ins tall with a slim build, wore a black balaclava and spoke with a St Helens accent.
POLICE are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information can contact DC Aidan Lavin at the St Helens CID office on 0151 777 6064 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
