GARDENERS got the wash day blues when thieves targeted local allotments.

Half a dozen tin dolly tubs, standard household issue before washing machines became common, went missing on Monday in raids on Shakerley Common plots in Tyldesley.

"I suppose we'd better hide our washboards," said a baffled veg. grower.

New park link?

A NEW access road maybe built to serve the new Parsonage retail Park.

City Link, developers of the site, want to include a further 10 acres in the scheme which would be used to increase further employment opportunities.

Residents will be fully consulted before any road, linking Wigan Road and the retail park, is planned.
