THE Central Lancashire Green Party is launching a special collection service for old, discarded and broken tools.
And teams of collectors will be in the area to collect tools from homes and businesses during October.
These will be passed on to Tools for Self Reliance workshops for refurbishment and sent to third world communities.
Also, the party is anxious to hear from businesses who might have regular supplies of tools surplus at the end of contracts and so on.
Central Lancashire Green Party agent Chris Maile said:
"Money or other aid given to a community can so easily be diverted to other less deserving causes. This scheme allows an item that is of no further use to become the means of a community taking care of its own finances, through the creation of products produced with those discarded tools.
"To me nothing could be finer, a means of recycling while helping some of the world's poorest people to retake control of their lives, so please dig out those old tools and together we can make a difference."
Anyone wanting to donate tools should ring the Central Lancashire Green Party on 01942 513792.
