ALAN WHALLEY'S WORLD
OUR trans-global missing persons service strikes gold once more.
Lilian Hand, from Engadine, New South Wales, sends a letter of thanks from Down Under after being put back in touch with a lost friend, Marie Smart, last known address being in Rainford.
Last month Lilian had requested help in her search from customers of this column. And now she delightedly writes back: "I am glad to say that it worked. Marie rang us and we have now caught up with each other again. Many thanks."
Hot on the heels of that little triumph comes another challenge for our amateur sleuths.
T.G. Cooper from Gloucestershire is hoping to glean details about a St Helens branch on his family tree. He's searching for descendants of a former St Helens cinema projectionist, Mark Haycock, cousin of his grandfather.
T.G. understands that Mark left Hull to settle in St Helens where he continued in his picture-palace job until about 1959.
If any of his descendants are around, T.G. pleads with them to drop him a line at: 25 Studland Drive, Prestbury, Cheltenham, Glos. GL52 5BU.
