WALKERS by name and walkers by nature - that sums up one Blackpool couple who have just co-authored a book about touring the Lake District.
Dave and Kerry Walker have just published their first book, which re-traces the steps of 18th century poets Wordsworth and Coleridge who went on a 137-mile ramble around Cumbria together.
The couple have spent the past 15 months researching the book.
Civil servant Dave and a care assistant Kerry managed to finish the book in a remarkably short time, just using their spare moments in between taking parties on walking trips and training for races with North Fylde Athletics Club.
Dave said: "We have spent virtually every weekend in the Lakes these past few months.
"It has been very busy. We have been finding out about the history of the places they visited as well as mapping out their route."
The pair have also completed the walk itself in just eleven days.
Next April they are planning to take a party of walkers up to the Lake District to do the walk, stopping at the places where Wordsworth and Coleridge would have stopped in 1799.
The inspiration for the book came from Dave and Kerry's roots - both coming from the Lake District originally - but they came to Blackpool more than 20 years ago to find jobs.
The book costs £6.95 and will be in the shops this autumn, but if you would like a copy of now, contact Dave or Kerry Walker on 592332.
