A FORMER Blackburn College student has won a starring role alongside TV sleuth Hetty Wainthropp.
James Slark, 19, who completed a BTec National Diploma in media studies in the summer, will be assisting with the purchase of props for the popular BBC series Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, much of which is filmed in Darwen.
"It's actually a London production but I have been lucky enough to find work near to where I live," said James, from Harwood, Bolton.
"But it has taken a lot of hard work and perseverance to get this far.
"I have done around two years' voluntary work as a runner with Granada in Manchester and also work on the Granada Studio Tours."
The contract is initially for a month but James hopes it will help him to meet people who will help him with his career.
James, who achieved 17 distinctions and three merits in his course, enjoyed his first role in front of the cameras when he appeared on the Channel Four show Moviewatch as a guest reviewer on Tuesday night. He added: "I want to eventually end up being successful in something that I enjoy doing.
"I see myself as a good all-rounder."
