JIMMY Mullen could be on his way back into management....with Burnley's Second Division rivals Carlisle United.
Sources in Cumbria are tipping Mullen as one of the favourites for the job if chairman Michael Knighton decides to appoint a new man in place of the sacked Mervyn Day.
And that move might be sooner rather than later after last night's 2-0 home defeat by Preston North End.
Knighton is coming under mounting pressure from the Carlisle support to make an experienced appointment since taking charge of team affairs with youth team coach David Wilkes and Community Officer John Halpin last month.
Disenchanted Carlisle fans were chanting: 'We want a manager' during their 3-1 defeat to Burnley at Turf Moor on October 11.
And today the Football League's bottom club - Doncaster Rovers - were also linked with a move for the ex-Clarets boss.
Mullen said: "I'm really hungry to get back into management and I feel the time is right for me."
