A CEMENTING of links between schools and the construction industry has brought a top award to East Lancashire.

A project organised by the Construction Curriculum Centre at East Lancashire Education Business Partnerships saw three schools win certificates from the Construction Industry Training Award for their work on NVQ Level 1 courses in construction and painting and decorating.

The centre, funded by the CITB, also won an award for its work in helping schoolchildren learn about construction through practical experience.

At the presentation were Sue Hoey, education manager for Education Business Partnerships, Pendle MP Gordon Prentice, Peter Dixon (Primet High School), John Strivens (Darwen Vale High School) and Andrew McKenzie (Moorhead High School).
