THOUSANDS of Fylde aerospace workers are breathing a sigh of relief as Germany finally ended its dithering over Eurofighter.
Some 14,000 workers at British Aerospace Warton and Samlesbury have welcomed the news that the German cabinet wants to go ahead with 180 jets, after nearly two years of speculation they may pull out.
The order, which is expected to be confirmed by the German parliament next month, will help secure thousands of Fylde livelihoods well into the next century.
Frank Gornall, vice-chairman of Warton unit's Manufacturing, Science and Finance union, said: "It's excellent news, everybody's elated that we're finally moving forward."
This week the workers received a further boost when Fylde Euro MP Mark Hendrick won re-affirmation from defence secretary George Robertson that the British government will keep its pledge to order 232 planes.
