POLICE have slammed yobs who vandalised a doctor's car while he was acting the Good Samaritan.

Dr Kelvin Gill, who practices in the Platt Bridge area, stopped after a school crossing patrol woman was hit by a motorbike on Friday morning at the junction of High Street and Church Street in Golborne.

Marjorie Littler, aged 64 of Windsor Road, Golborne is still 'poorly' in Hope Hospital following the crash involving a Suzuki 1100 motorbike.

She was hit by the motorbike as it travelled along Church Street onto High Street towards Warrington.

She was on duty, supervising children crossing the road to a nearby school.

The doctor stopped his BMW car and treated the woman at the scene until paramedics arrived

He then accompanied the woman to Wigan Royal Infirmary, before she was transferred to Hope, and asked police to lock up his BMW car.

But when he returned to the scene, he found the car had been badly scratched down both sides.

Ch Insp Brian Wroe said he was apalled by the incident.

He said: "I think it is quite outrageous when some-one stops to give first aid and acts as the Good Samaritan and this is the reward he gets.

"If anyone has seen anything in relation to this vandalism we would be very keen to speak to them."

Stephen Gore, aged 25, of Hope Street, Newton le Willows, who was riding the Suzuki appeared before Leigh Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with driving offences.
