THERE'S a whole heap of trouble brewing in Darwen over an unwanted mound of soil and rubble - and it could be heading for the High Court!
Blackburn with Darwen Council and developers Blackthorn Homes Ltd are at loggerheads as to who is responsible for the mound left at Spring Meadows housing estate off Pole Lane. It could cost over £100,000 to clear.
The council's Planning Sub Committee met last night (Thursday) to discuss the best way to solve the unsightly problem. And that could mean High Court action against the developers.
The council say the developers piled up the soil and rubble at the entrance to the development and failed to landscape the site in accordance with the management brief.
Now council officials must decide whether it is financially viable to take the problem into the court room.
Local residents want the mound removed and are awaiting developments.
Councillor Frank Connor, chairman of the committee declined to comment on the affair at this stage. A spokesman for Blackthorn Homes Ltd was unavailable for comment.
