BURNLEY have halted a bid by Third Division Notts County for pacy winger Glen Little.

County manager Sam Allardyce tried in vain to land Little on loan with a major injury crisis at Meadow Lane limiting his options.

But today Clarets player-manager Chris Waddle confirmed: "I'm not letting players go out on loan at present.

"At first it seemed like it could be a good idea when Notts County got in touch, but I'm only going to let players go out if the club wants to take the player in a permanent deal.

"If clubs are interested in players then they should put the money up front.

"There are plenty of people asking about this player and that, but when it comes to actually paying the money then everything goes quiet.

"It is a bit like me asking Walter Smith (Rangers manager) about Gazza.

"I can ask about him but everybody knows I simply couldn't afford him. I can't see the point of managers even asking if they know they can't offer the money.

"Anyway, when I spoke to Glen he was not too keen on the move to Notts County. "First and foremost, I've got to consider my own priorities, especially with Mark Ford suspended for the next three games.

"No players will be leaving Turf Moor unless it is beneficial to Burnley."

Although Little is not one of the six players on the Turf Moor transfer list, he does not appear to be part of Waddle's long term plans.

Little was snapped up from Northern Ireland part-timers Glentoran for £90,000 by Adrian Heath just over a year ago, but has only figured in a handful of league games.

He made his debut in an Auto Windscreens tie at Hartlepool last December, making his full bow against Walsall in an FA Cup replay at Turf Moor a fortnight later. Meanwhile, another player who could be on the move is former captain Jamie Hoyland.

Shrewsbury Town, who recently had Vince Overson on loan from Turf Moor, are tracking Hoyland closely.

Burnley are believed to have slapped a £65,000 transfer tag on the utility player and Shrews manager Jake King confirmed: "We are interested in Jamie Hoyland and I've asked about him."

But Waddle countered: "There is no way Jamie Hoyland is leaving Burnley on a free transfer.

"We will want a fee for him.

"I think a lot of clubs think they can nick players off Burnley for nothing. I can assure them that is not going to happen."

Experienced midfielder Nigel Gleghorn could join Northampton Town on loan in the next 48 hours with a view to a permanent deal. Gleghorn featured for Northampton Reserves for a full 90 minutes against Peterborough United at London Road last night.

Morpeth Town striker Kevin Henderson is expected to arrive at Turf Moor for a trial on Sunday.

The 22-year-old, who is also interesting Scunthorpe, is expected to feature for the reserves on Wednesday at home to Stockport.

TIckets are currently on sale to season ticket holders (voucher D, one ticket per voucher) for the Lancashire derby against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road on November 8.

Tickets, subject to availability, will go open sale Saturday, November 1. Tickets for the trip to Luton on November 4 are now on open sale.
