POLICE are searching for what could be a vital clue after a 23-year-old man was subjected to a terrifying serious sexual attack by three men in Preston's Moor Park.

It is believed the victim was forced to inhale a noxious substance as part of the attack. He was found collapsed and distressed by a taxi driver near Garstang Road. The man was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment and is now recovering at home, being comforted by his girlfriend.

Police are anxious to trace the victim's missing wallet which could have been snatched during the assault.

The dark brown wallet is 6ins by 4ins, has snake-like skin and a light brown pattern, and contains personal belongings and photos. Police are also appealing for witnesses or anybody who was in the area between 10 pm on Friday (Oct 10) and 1am the following morning. Det Insp Bob Helm of Preston Police said: "The man suffered an horrendous ordeal and we are very concerned.

"We are doing all we can to track these people down. Anybody who frequents the park, walks their dog or takes a short cut through it could have seen something."

The three men were white. The first was more than 30 years old, 6ft 4ins tall, of proportionate build, with dark short hair. He wore a blue Adidas buttoned top, a navy blue Adidas cap and trainers.

The second was scruffy, had an Irish accent, aged 25-30, 5ft 10ins tall, thin, with mousey brown hair. He wore a beige jacket, waistcoat and trousers.

The third was aged 30, well-spoken, more than 6ft tall, slim, with short dark spikey hair, wearing jeans, white trainers, and possibly a green pullover.
