THE home side started with a spirited defensive performance for the first ten minutes, but the visitors eventually broke through. Warriors continued their very high work rate in defence and competed to the very end. Tries and conversions were by man of the match Lee Connick and Craig Hewell, top tackler was Ben Wilson, with an improved performance from Roy Fowler.

WARRIORS started slowly and trailed by 18-0 at half-time. However, the second half saw a committed Warriors defence which disrupted the St Helens attack. Scores by man of the match Neel Byrom (2 tries) and Greg Johnstone (try) with conversions by Wayne Standring.

WARRIORS had a slow start but improved as the game went on with some excellent skills. Man of the match Hal Pedlar with a well supported try from Stuart Brown who was runner-up. In the second half the team relaced but came back with some well worked trys. Excellent tackling by top tackler Declan Mallan.

Warriors U13s 14 Folly Lane 24

WARRIORS played Folly Lane at home and despite some good tackling Warriors failed to make good use of their possession. Tries were from top tackler John Cookson and man of the match Dan Lofthouse after the best passing movement of the game. Stuart McKenna and Lee Beattie did the conversions.

Warriors U14s 12 Heywood 26

THE visitors completely overpowered the Leyland side during the first half but in the second half they found that Warriors never give up. Some polished play from the Leyland team produced two second half tries from the top tackler Leigh Byrom which were both converted by Thomas Bailey making his debut. Man of the match was Greg Baron.

Warriors U15s 34 Langworthy 32

WARRIORS continued their good start to the season with an excellent win. A very disciplined display from the Warriors against a very physical team earned them their first ever victory against their Manchester rivals. Captain Danny Wright led by example with a superb five-try haul for which he was named man of the match. Paul Woz, playing his first game for Warriors, also had a performance worthy of note. Michael Smith scored Warriors other try and Ian Schofield was once again on target kicking five conversions.
