PARENTS have been asked to put their children on the alert after a driver tried to lure a nine years-old boy into his car.
The Newton West Park schoolboy, who was on his way home after lessons, refused to get into the white car and ran off to tell his mother.
Police alerted the school of the incident and have praised the boy for his description of the man, who had a distinctive mole on his face.
Det Ch Insp Mike Whiting is leading the hunt for the man, described as: about 40 years old, grey/fair hair, brown eyes with a red/brown mole on his face.
The car had a red stripe down the side.
"If anyone can connect the man and the car we want them to get in touch with us," said Mr Whiting. "Or the driver might want to get in dtouch with us to tell us why he was in the area."
