ONE of the events at Burnley Central library to celebrate National Libraries Week will be a local and family history workshop.

It takes place in the reference library on Monday, November 3, from 6.45pm. Admission is free but the number of places is limited to 25 and need to be booked in advance.

On the night there will be books, pamphlets, maps and photographs as well as other items which are usually only available on restricted access.

The five microfilm and three microfiche readers will have examples of the wide range of resources available at the library and visitors will also be able to try out the growing number of local history database indexes available on the computer terminals.

Divisional librarian John Hodgkinson said: "If you would like to know more about your family history or the history of Burnley, or find out exactly what the reference library's filing cabinets and map chests contain claim your ticket from the reference library as soon as possible and come along on November 3."
