LEYLAND stores have gone live in the new town centre radio link scheme to fight crime in the run-up to Christmas.
Seven shops have signed up, including Kwik Save, Booths, Foodgiant, Spar, Ethel Austin and Sukert chemist, but more are expected to follow suit.
The system quickly spreads a warning between store owners and police officers on patrol.
Leyland crime prevention officer Lesley Brown said: "The scheme means speedy communications between shops and officers leading to the prevention and detection of crime."
