A SHOCK survey revealed how poverty-stricken families were getting into debt to buy food and fuel - and many were skipping meals they could not afford.
The National Children's Home said 82% of those questioned in the North West were living on less than £130 a week. Almost 90% had borrowed money and many were deeply in debt.
A quarter of North West parents blamed their financial worries on separation or divorce.
